AROMATHERAPY

MASSAGE

55 min - £50 (The session time is 1 hour and allows 5 minutes to change)

Aromatherapy is an ancient art and has been used since the beginning of time. Fragranced products were used in religious ceremonies, bathing and for scenting the body. It was not until the Egyptians that physicians learnt how to distil pure essential oils from natural plants. These essential oils were then used for healing, cleansing and relaxation. The art of aromatherapy is used to restore the harmony of the mind, body and soul.

The pure essential oil is the vital ingredient in any type of aromatherapy treatment. The essences are extracted from various parts of the plant, including the petals, stems, seeds and stalks etc

With this treatment we aim to treat the whole person, to improve your physical and emotional well being. This therapy is most suitable for adults.

A typical treatment lasts around an hour. The oils used are more concentrated and are lighter than water so easily obsorbed through the skin during treatment.

Following your treatment it is recommended that you do not shower for at least 8 to 24 hrs. This will ensure the oils have enough time to take full effect.

BAMBOO

MASSAGE

55 min - £45 (The session time is 1 hour and allows 5 minutes to change)

Originally from Asia this new therapy is wonderful to have if you like deep tissue massage. This powerful treatment will leave you feeling relaxed and balanced. Your muscles will have been stretched, warmed and detoxed.

Warm bamboo massage uses solid bamboo sticks of different lengths and diameters to massage the body. The sticks are gently warmed and applied to give deep and long massage strokes to break down tension and stretch tight muscles.

This treatment especially works well for runners and cyclists experiencing tightness in their legs, feet and IT band. It is also of great benefit to anyone suffering from shortened muscles due to postural imbalances.

Warm bamboo massage is a unique new way to relax tight muscles and release stress and tension and improve sports performance. If you like deep tissue work, this treatment is for you.

HOT STONES

MASSAGE

55 min - £60

(The session time is 1 hour and allows 5 minutes to change)

This massage has to be one of the most enjoyable and relaxing therapeutic massages available. For hundreds of years, hot stone massage has been used by many different cultures and the same techniques are still applied today for a wonderfully nurturing massage designed to work on muscle tension at the deepest level.

During the hot stone massage treatment, smooth, basalt rocks that have been heated in water are used in two ways; some stones are wrapped in towels and placed on specific energy centres, known as chakras, along the body to align and re-balance the body’s natural energy flow, whilst other stones are used by the therapist to perform the body massage.

The heat of the stones penetrates deep into the muscle tissue allowing the muscles to relax much quicker than in a standard body massage, easing muscle tension and revitalising the muscle tissue by increasing blood circulation.

The deep relaxation and increased blood flow to the areas being worked not only accelerates any healing processes but also creates a state of deep mental relaxation. This is a truly luxurious massage for mind, body and spirit.

A 75 minute room allocation will be set aside to allow the set up of this treatment.

HALF BODY

MASSAGE

25 min - £25

(The session time is 30 minutes and allows 5 minutes to change)

This is a half an hour mini version of our Swedish massage. A great way for a quick fix.

The term “Swedish Massage” refers to a variety of techniques specifically designed to increase the oxygen flow in the blood and remove toxins and other metabolic waste from your body. It consists of 5 movements that work together on your nerves, muscles, glands and circulation. Massage strokes can be done either to invigorate or to relax you.

Swedish massage shortens recovery time from muscle strain by flushing the tissues of lactic acid, uric acid, and other metabolic wastes. It increases circulation without increasing heart load. It stretches the ligaments and tendons keeping them supple and pliable. Swedish massage also stimulates the skin and nervous system and soothes the nerves themselves at the same time.

It reduces stress, both emotional and physical, and is suggested as part of a regular stress management programme.

You will be completely covered with soft towels during this treatment, save for the area of the body to be massaged.

This is a great all round treatment.  One of my personal favourites.

INDIAN HEAD

MASSAGE

40 min - £35

(The session time is 45 minutes and allows 5 minutes to change)

Indian Head Massage is based on the Ayurvedic system of healing which has been practiced in India for over a thousand years.

The aim of Indian head massage is to release the stress that has accumulated in the tissues, muscles and joints of the head, face, neck and shoulders. We use a range of different movements including the application of deep kneading and compression movements over the back, neck, shoulder and scalp areas. We also gently stimulate and stroke pressure points on the face.

Indian head massage is especially good for relieving stress, tension, fatigue, insomnia, headaches, migraine and sinusitis. Clients report that the experience is deeply calming and relaxing, leaving them feeling energised and revitalised and better able to concentrate.

Indian head massage helps increase joint mobility and flexibility in the neck and shoulders, improves blood circulation and lymphatic flow, frees knots of muscular tension, relaxes connective tissue, and aids in the elimination of accumulated toxins and waste products. It is particularly good for reducing the effects of stress and tension.

REFLEXOLOGY

FOOT THERAPY

55 min - £45

(The session time is 1 hour and allows 5 minutes to change)

Reflexology is a form of complementary' medicine and involves a method of treatment using massage to reflex areas found in the feet and the hands. Most commonly, the feet are used as the areas to be treated, but on some occassions the hands are treated.

In the feet, there are many reflex areas corresponding to all the various parts of the body and these areas are arranged in such a way as to form a map of the body in the feet with the right foot corresponding to the right side of the body and the left foot corresponding to the left side of the body. So by treating both feet your body is treated as a whole.

The method has been used for several thousands of years and is known to have been practised in a similar manner by the Chinese and the Egyptians.

The main pioneer of Reflexology in Great Britain was the late Doreen Bayly who introduced the method in the early 1960's and whose great determination to stimulate awareness and interest in the method should not be forgotten.

Reflexology does not claim to be a 'cure-all' but many people have found they have been helped by reflexology. Surveys carried out by The British Reflexology Association showed benefits to those presenting with symptoms of stress, insomnia and irritable bowel syndrome.

According to Nicola Hall in her book 'Reflexology for Women' help may be given for ' a wide range of disorders including headaches, migraines, sinus congestion, stiffness in the neck and back, digestive problems, hormonal problems'.   Most people who have experienced a reflexology  session would agree that the method is a very relaxing therapy which may reduce tension and lead to an improved sense of well-being.

What to expect from your reflexology treatment

When first visiting a detailed medical history will be taken. You will be asked to remove the shoes and socks and your feet examined.

You will then be seated and your feet soothed in a bowl of warm floral water, flower petals and essential oils. this will last around 15 minutes to soothe away any aches.

Now your foot massage will being and followed by a firm pressure using the side and end of the thumb. In some instances, the fingers may also be employed. All areas on both your feet will be massaged.

Areas corresponding to parts of the body which are out of balance will feel uncomfortable or tender when massaged and the degree of tenderness will indicate the degree of imbalance. The sensitivity of the feet varies from person to person and our trained practitioner will understand the correct pressure to apply and how to interpret the tendernesses felt. The massage should not be very uncomfortable to even the most sensitive of feet.

The full treatment session will last approximately an hour and at the end of a session the feet should feel warm and you relaxed. The number of treatment sessions required will vary depending on the condition being treated.

REIKI

HEALING

60 - 90 min - £45

Course of 3 £110.00

(The session time allows 5 minutes to change)

Pronounced ray key. The word Reiki means ‘universal life energy’ in Japanese, where this therapy originated at the turn of the century. Reiki is based on the premise that illness is caused by a disruption in the body’s energy field or life force.

By using specially designed symbols and channelling energy, it is believed that the body can be filled with positive energy causing the disease-making negative energy to disappear.Reiki heals by charging negatively affected parts of the energy field with positive energy. Energy fields in the body each have different vibratory levels and Reiki practitioners use their hands to affect and hopefully rebalance these vibrations in the negatively affected part of the body.

Remaining fully clothed, you will be ask to prepare for treatment by relaxing on a massage couch, or sitting if that is more comfortable. We will then hold our hands over the body in a sequence of positions, each one being held for a couple of minutes. Alternatively, we may work ‘absently’, or away from the body.

Although personal experiences differ, some people report feeling an intense heat from the practitioner’s hands during the process. You will not have to think about or do anything, as it is our aim to provide a gentle, warming, vital energy appropriate for the recipient.Reiki can be used to relieve the symptoms of chronic illnesses such as anxiety, insomnia, back pain and arthritis, and it often produces long-term beneficial changes. In most cases the practitioner will suggest a course of four, six or twelve treatments for maximum benefit.

Aside from treating physical, mental and emotional problems, most clients report that a Reiki treatment feels wonderful, and promotes a sense of relaxation and well being. As a general rule, Reiki can’t do any harm because it is a form of non-invasive energy healing and will adjust itself to create the most appropriate effect for each individual person.

However, although most people feel peaceful and relaxed after treatment, it can stir up emotions as part of the healing process. Some people also experience a healing reaction such as a headache or flu like symptoms, but any discomfort should be short-lived.

SPORTS / DEEP TISSUE

MASSAGE

55 min - £50

Course of 3 - £130.00

(The session time is 1 hour and allows 5 minutes to change)

Sports massage is one of the best choices when it comes treating sports injuries, bad back, stiff neck or for those who generally like a deeper massage.

Massage is used to reduce tension, stretch ligaments and tendons. During your sports massage your muscles will be flushed of all toxins helping to improve your muscles' flexibility and improve joint mobility. Sports massage can be used before, during and after work out.

Regular treatments can help break down scar tissue, remove the build-up of toxins, improve mobility and reduce the risk of further injury.

Unlike Swedish massage therapy, which is used for relaxation, Deep Tissue Massage and Sports Massage can help with specific problems.

After Care Advice

After a treatment your body might show some of the following reactions:

• stiffness, aching muscles, tiredness

• frequent visits to the toilet, this allows your body to get rid of waste

• runny nose / coughing, this allows your body to get rid of toxins

• headache

• your body is in a repairing phase and might take some time to re-adjust.

These reactions should clear in the next 24-48 hours. In order to continue enjoying the treatment you just had, your therapist would like to suggest a few points."''"

DO NOT:

1. Have a heavy meal after a treatment - allow 4-6 hours. Your body is in a healing state and is thus resting - massage stimulates the digestive system and therefore might make you feel nauseous.

2. Drink a lot of caffeine drinks (tea, coffee, red bull) or stimulants - allow 12-24 hours. Alcohol might cause dehydration.

3. Smoke - allow 12-24 hours.

4. Rush around - exercise vigorously - allow a few hours. This will limit the effects of the massage.

5. Ignore your body's messages. You might feel faint, tired and / or thirsty.

DO:

1. Relax for a while after a treatment. Have a bath to continue the relaxation process or listen to soft relaxing music.

2. Give feedback to the therapist about the treatment.

3. Wrap up warmly. You might feel cold after a treatment.

4. Take care when driving home as your reflexes might be slower. You may feel faint or tired.

5. Drink plenty of water, fruit juice or herbal teas.  Your body might have been drained of lymphatic waste and toxins which may result in being thirsty and the water will help flush all the waste and toxins away.  Water will help the detoxifying process and to rehydrate your body.

6. Pay attention to general posture. Sitting and walking up straight is of importance.

7. Have a nap or rest if you can - it will make the muscles relax and make the massage last longer.

Regular massage treatments are highly recommended, for maximum and long lasting health benefits.
