Here at Buddha Beauty we often get stuck in a bubble and forget that everyone isn’t an expert on every aspect of the beauty industry and sometimes this can lead to partial alienation of our clients! In order to ensure that every single one of our customers are able to understand the important aspects of their treatments, we have decided to go over some of the top beauty terms that everybody should know…
Antioxidants: These are protective ingredients that are often found inside many creams and moisturisers and are said to reduce damage to the skin and prevent aging. Examples of antioxidants include vitamin C, coenzyme Q10 and pomegranate.
Collagen: This is a protein that occurs naturally within the skin. In fact, it works in harmony with another protein called elastin in order to keep the skin healthy and prevent it sagging. Collagen gives the skin a youthful appearance and also slows down the development of lines and wrinkles.
Exfoliation: This is the process of removing dead skin cells from the surface of the skin through jojoba beads, plastic particles and other things that allow you to scrub the face. With this said, some exfoliants also opt for chemicals that can dissolve and break up the dead skin cells.
Moisturiser: This is a type of beauty product that can come in a gel, lotion or cream form and is used in order to hydrate the skin and ensure that it is able to retain water. An important thing to know when selecting a moisturiser is that they can either be oil based or water based and which one you use depends on your skin type.
Vegan: A product that is considered vegan means that none of the ingredient are animal derived. This is important because animal products like beeswax and gelatin are often implemented into many skincare products. Plus, vegan products are often also animal cruelty free!
